     Mal,

As far as I can tell, my blogging is about as creative as anyone in my family gets, unless one counts my brother, who has six kids. He told my dad, that he lived by a railroad track, and a train passed his house regularly, at four AM each morning. He said it was too early to get up, and too late to go back to sleep! At least he came by it honestly. My dad had a ten member family.

I told my brother that he should have bought a television!

Oh Mal, I am so over awed. She WROTE 'BRIAR ROSE'

Which was on the HSC certificate in NSW a few years back. It is such an interesting book and deep. I just went looking for my copy. I loved that book. I really now just want to reread it. I will search on my downstairs bookshelf and hopefully find it and reread it again. Just such a great book. I love it. That book and Mariama Ba's book So Long A Letter are the books I have enjoyed teaching the most in my teaching career along with To Kill a Mockingbird.

WOW you are related to Jane Yolen!! You have really blown me away. I am awe struck. Need sunnies. It is like saying you are related to Doris Lessing or something to that effect! Blown away!

There is a long list of notable female fantasists and sci fi writers
that, for my money, are the best in the business: Ursula le Guin, Patricia McKillip, Elizabeth Marshall Thomas, Sherri Tepper, Nancy V. Berberick, R.A. MacAvoy--to name a few of my personal favorites-- and Jane Yolen is on this list!

I really love watercolor--always have.  That should make the movie extra special--at least for me.   (I did not cry that flower, I just used my cursor)

Your boys sound energetic.......it sounds like they have amazing spirits. Didn't I read somewhere (either in one of your posts or a reply to someone else's post) that they are non-believers? Can't fool these bright kids.......they know bullshit when they hear it........and they'll call us on it.
