I'm toying with the new eHow and not very convinced it's right for me.
1. They were so slow in replying to emails that I went ahead and opened another account to see about doing more writing for money.
2. The new deal is they have you submit a writing specimen first of at least 300 words, then they will ok you or not.
3. Apparently, from their conditions section, one get assignments, has a period to get the writing done, then they decide if it will work. They reserve the decision to turn it back to you for a polish, or reject it and pay you a kill fee (three fees then no more), or publish it and they keep all rights and your name comes off.
Maybe if I'm hard-up for cash (they claim to pay within two weeks, but their email delays are unconvincing) or really-really want to see my stuff in print...and I can do the latter here without losing my rights. And maybe make a little dough.
Ah, maybe.

But you didn't send it back, did you? I'm having an on/off relationship with another online company at the moment. I like their system but I won't be making money for a looooong time. Mind you I've hardly ever made any money with Blogit.

2009? It might be a good idea mneme, but I don't know about the bank manageress's point of view. I could call myself a frellance writer but I'd have to look up 'freelance' to find out if it means 'making money.'

I have two or three articles, and after a year's silence, they sent me $15
No idea why.

maybe you could recycle your classic article as a quote? lol . The unseen advantage of being a blogit writer is that I could (with my bank manager's collusion) describe myself as a writer and therefore self-employed (albeit about £2 a month if everyone looks!). I can have a credit card, so that I can get myself into debt should the need arise. Himself is still not of the opinion that he has to support me financially during separation. Ho hum.

TAPS
Like the good old days,TAPS, when all you had to do was type up a story and send it off. Within weeks you received either a rejection letter or your story was published. If it was published you got a cheque. What could be easier?

Whacky
Naw! It was my fault, Whacky for not reading all the instructions. it is possible to post to AC and still retain copyright. Just call me dummy.

I joined AC but never did write for them. It sounds like there are things to watch for there, as true for any site. Why can't writing for $$$$ be just a little more simple?

Maybe it was a good thing
that my webtv would freeze up every time I tried to post at AC. It knew something I didn't.

Pat
It was my own fault, Pat. It wasn't until later that I realised I could have simply 'rented?' - [can't for the life of me think what the correct word should be] - them out and kept the copyright.

Lots more stories, ginnie - it' the getting them down on paper that's the difficult part.

I just decided not to get involved with AC...
Doesn't seem fair you've given up all rights to your own stuff, even for $74.
