Our ways are not the standards..
When we can see how 'distinct' the way we do some specific things, we can always say to people staring at us, "This is me, this is us.. would you like to keep wondering, or would you like to try to understand?" .. Some cultures consider asking as an impolite thing, so, offering explanation can often break the ice..
