I don't too much worry about politically correct. I say let each "couple" decide for themselves what words they want to use to introduce their "partner".

I know a gay, who has a calls his partner his husband. In Denmark you can have registered partnerships, and their's was followed by a blessing in church.

I guess you could introduce them as "David and his partner Trevor" or "Susan and her partner Amanda".
