Quantum Physics

Yes.

And I am very interested in this subject too on my path to G-d. I don't know how you feel about Deepak Chopra, but his merging and harmonizing the material world through the level of Quantum Mechanics to G-d is most interesting.

I have a poem : http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/Raphael222/608514 which contains a thought I have had in relation to Creation.

I have this idea that the raw material of the physical Universe is brought to life, by the investing of G-d's creative power into it; moreover, that we human beings, made in His image, have this creative ability which comes through our perception. G-d's Spirit through us and with us can breathe life into matter which is at a different frequency and it becomes alive and beautiful.

The Universe as different manifestations of energy...
...is more in line with my thinking, because I have had too many encounters with the unexplained to assume there is no other realm. Maybe one day, that other realm might be scientifically explained and accepted.

Good post, very interesting. Nudge your Zen friend back and encourage her to think of G-d as something very similar to the Tao, which is how I've come to my conception of G-d, or Creative/Destructive Spirit Of The Universe That Flows Through Everything type deal~

Oh, and while I am at it, having read the other comments only now...
And while I hate to contradict our TAPS: if our minds were as  radically solipsistic as her idea that  "rational and irrational are completely relative to each individual" suggests, no rational discourse would be possible...

gap

The (very) short answer to all this is: a 'creating intelligence' is at best a possibility, but not a necessity, as the creationists have it, no matter what any physicist believes (rather than knows)...

In addition, most people, which includes many physicists, have a rather naive understanding of what they call 'Darwinism'. Things have moved on tremendously since Darwin's day, and it's best not to even use that term, but simply speak of 'evolution'...

As you quite rightly suggest, an acceptance of evolution does not preclude the existence of God. What it does preclude is the acceptance of the creation myth as told in Genesis.

And to those who tell us that there is a lot about evolution we don't know, my answer is, correct, but we know a lot more about evolution than you know about God, of whom you know nothing, but of whom you merely have a belief...

And lastly, I have no problem with people believing in God, unlike many of my fellow atheists, lol. I only have a problem with the rather silly attempt at 'proving' the content of their faith scientifically. To do so is to misunderstand both science and faith...

I'm in complete agreement Mal, especially...
with the last line. There is deep meaning in the Hindu scriptural piece, "There was total silence. Then there was the word. And the word was OM!" which superficial / skeptical readers often miss / don't understand. Your inquisitiveness & insights grounded in sincere research & un-biased thought impress me, Mal. Wish I could say the same about some others, especially the ones that seem to be so highly opinionated and "stuck behind their own telescopes" with limited vision. Best wishes, Ash

There is still so much that humans don't know and can't prove, but they are inching closer all the time.   In the meanwhile, rational and irrational are completely relative to each individual.

I've said that.
