It's good to know that your Dad is up and about, even if there is still pain. Generally doctors prefer their patients to be mobile as soon as possible after surgery, at least that's what mine told me after my little unpleasantness a couple of years ago...

Most anyone being cooped up inside for an extended period
will make great strides at "getting out of the house". Swelling. ., or no swelling.
