I have never been to Seattle, though I've been to Portland, OR, where I found the air fairly clean, at least when compared to Toronto. But I imagine Seattle is a bit like Vancouver - still beautiful in many parts, but stifled by the usual big-city miasma...

Re: Thanks so much, Mal!
It has been said that photographers don't take pictures of things, they take pictures of light on things. I find this to be true: light interacting with the world is what draws the eye. We don't
see light until it hits something, shines on or through it.

I have only been to Seattle once, mostly passing by it. It was very pretty at night with all the lights!

As a photographer, you have a keen sense of clear and particular qualities of light that others might miss. Nice post, Ciel - and yes, besides a burst of craziness here, it's been pretty quiet. But it's that "transitional" time of year and lots of people are spring cleaning and tending to their lives. At least, I know I am!! Mal

And, TAPS, it is so sad to go to such a place years later
and see that the stars are not as brilliant and air not as crystal-clear as it once was... I am thinking of the Colorado Plateau, the broad piece of real estate that stretches across much of the Southwest, that has inherited the winds out of southern California and its horrendous pollution.

Isn't it strange how polution is often not much noticed until one is in one of those fantastic places where polution is at a bare minimum.

I feel the same way about Montreal. When I was living there the city seemd cleaner, the people more welcoming. I still am there everyday (for work), but now I can't wait to leave it at night and return to the mountains. It's sad. Have been reading your earlier posts - great stuff!.

OTA, in the US, it remains one of the best cities to live in.
But it isn't what it was... On the other hand, what, or who is?

If you ever do move to Seattle, let me know and I will take you down to the Pike Place Market to the original Starbuck's and we can drink the original Market Spice Tea while we watch the fish-throwers do their work...

Ciel, I went to Seattle about 3 years ago and fell in love with the area. If I had to pick a place to live.. Seattle would be at the top of the list.
