"Jumble sales"
To hear/see these words again, after so many years out of England, was like an angel plucking one of my heartstrings and setting it vibrating with magical thoughts of youth.
Far and wide have I traveled, both inwardly and outwardly, but the humble "jumble sale" to me, for some unfathomable reason, sends me into an ecstasy of blissful contemplation.
If people just went to weekly "jumble sales" instead of to war, we would have peace in the world - and of course there would be ladies serving tea...the English kind, hot, strong, sugared and reviving to the old spirit.
This surely sounds like the ravings of an old man.
It is.

Hi Rockingrector
Glad to hear everything went well with the sale and you're off to other matters. Have a nice time at the Alpha course. Homosexuality?? Sounds interesting!

yeah cars have rafters -- beams across the roof to keep it from collapsing
glad things seem to be going smoothly.
I guess the parish is selling the rectory -- paying you a stipend for housing?

Here fraternal estate planning and life insurance’s big church business. I guess that you feel about the funeral the way the pastors that I’ve had did and I guess still do, that is, the living ones.
Discussions with refreshments simulate. Especially I enjoy the Men’s Breakfast. All can come if they wish like the pastor does ask when a lady comes to set up flowers on the altar or something.
