Stands to reason, I suppose, that self affirmations are going to be useful mostly to those people who already have a healthy sense of self worth – but, hey, I try them on for size every day.

Re:
Thanks Shelly, glad you liked the article  .Yes, I agree that we are responsible for our own happiness. The trouble is if we do not have the self confidence to say 'no' to destructive patterns and people in our lives. Without doing that we find it difficult to be happy. Enjoy your day!

Re:
Yes, if family and friends only notice and comment on the negative things it does not help build our self esteem.. I've noticed that on the whole bloggers on this site are very supportive. Thanks for the good wishes for a pleasant day! Enjoy the rest of your's!

A pretty interesting study there. Makes sense to me. I think if people don't believe what they are saying it will not work.

I have very low self-esteem
which definitely doesn't help and know I should have more belief in myself.

Smileycons!  I found this post interesting. I think it's almost impossibe to convince yourself of something when your mind and heart are telling you differently. It seems to me that kind words and encouragement from a friend or family member are our most productive source for gaining self esteem. Also, when other Bloggers reach out with kindness and support.

Hope you have a very pleasant day too!

I think it is combination of things that keeps a person self assured! I did like the journal, though! For me the bottom line is we are responsible for our happiness and it up to the individual to do that very thing! Identifying those things that keep esteem low are key factors as well! It was a great article to spur thought! Shelly

Having one other person in the world think you are wonderful
or special or okay as you are makes all the difference. It might be an aunt or an uncle, or some teacher who takes you in hand. We tend to reflect and live up to someone's good opinion of us.

Nah, pulling yourself out of any rut will always be valid. A mantra does help.
