So is working "en caf'e" helping?
Maybe get you out of the writing thing for a bit for a breather?

Somehow I know you'll succeed in the end! How do I know? I don't know, but I do...there is that spark in your writing that will not be extinguished...

If we write:
We angst and we write, we love and we write, we fear and we write. We bake brownies and we write. You words are exquisite and they need your heart to stay big and courageous to find their place in the world. I have no doubts that i will read your book someday, and I know stuff like that. :) Don't ask how, just do.

Maybe, as you suggested, the situation has given you even more conviction to forge ahead.

I can't imagine how gutted you are, but I do admire your gutsy determination. This is a case of networking being good for immediate cash and bad for goals.

Sounds like your instinct is beginning to waken,
either that or your nice side has begun to turn. The idea of dog-eat-dog in the publishing world, the idea that a healthy self-interest is a good thing, the instinct to run a bit faster, take the last cookie on the plate, be your own best friend is coming out of the cultural slurry of friending and supporting everyone else first. That's the light at the end of the tunnel, the edge of the swamp -- but be wary. Once dawn comes the alligators can see you.

How awful for you. Why is it so hard to do and be what we want so badly?
