Thank you mneme. I can imagine how confused you must have been - just think how I feel!

hi johnmacnab
Having read this once and meaning to come back to comment, I couldn't join the dots reading some of the other commentors... what had latex gloves to do with kayaking...? Short memory, in spite of my nickname... very well written ( especially the latex aside...)

Sorry BrightIrish, but there won't be any photographs of the doves; they have flown the coop. I'm glad you found the little tale exciting. As for the America trip - I may post it soon, after all I did make an ass of myself a couple of times, and I can't let that go without comment.

Hi .. WOW!! I found your story exciting. My son-in-law loves his Kayak and my daughter knows just where to find him. I've never been on one and never intend on it either. Hope you enjoyed the trip with your daughter!

TAPS
So it was powder that you used to help you put them on; thanks for that information TAPS. I've been in a canoe in a large beaver pond once, and I'd love to try kayaking - in a very, very, shallow pond.

Your comment made me sit back in my seat, Pat. I hadn't considered any of your suggestions, and now you have me wondering if I could actually make it fictional. Thank you for the compliment.

Kabu
LOL, Kabu - you are so right, a landlubber is what I am, even if Hornblower fascinates me.

I hope you've memorized those details, how the water looked,
the angle of the sun, the critical distances, the reactions of the children. This could be part of a work of fiction, a scene, symbolic of risk and triumph over fear. If watching it brought your own gut reaction, writing it could grab a reader. In fact it did! Nice work!

I've been canoeing, but I've never tried a kayak. This was very interesting.
I wish I had a $ for every pair of latex gloves I went through in my years as a nurse. I'd be a rich retiree. I was fortunate to not develop an allergy to the substance or to the powder used for putting them on.

I could be back into the fray majroj? As for the allergies, I tripped over two fatal latex bodies just yesterday. Is it possible that it could be the powder/cream they use to help them wear them?

'Way to go! Back into the fray!
Oh, and that latex thing...why aren't the streets lttered with the dead and dying who are deathly allergic to latex, nuts, etc.?
I have only seen one person (A nurse) who might have been allergic to wearing latex gloves, and maybe it was the stuff they put in them so you can get your hands in.
