Re: Alcohol's effects. Northsage 45/ Guy
Guy. My sympathies to you about your son. It must be awful for you seeing him fall victim to drink and its consequences. In this country many people drink much too much. Yesterday I saw ambulance people carting away a dead-drunk man that had collapsed in a children's sandpit.

Alcohol's effects
Elinjo,
Alcohol has had much effect on most of the members of my father's branch of my family tree, mostly the males. I, and my father, both managed to dodge that bullet, just through the luck of the draw. I cannot take any credit for having been born with an off-switch, when it comes to alcohol. I just happen to have been fortunate in my genetic mix of chromosomes, or something. I warned my son about our family's propensity to waste our lives over the hold liquid poison can have on many of us, but this had no effect on his genetic legacy. He has fallen victim to just about every kind of genetically engineered, pitfall and mental malady possible. A "perfect storm" of fragmented and ill-combined genes. I may outlive him.

Re:
You're probably right about that Shelly! LOL. Over here people with an alcohol problem often buy their booze in the supermarket and drink it in the park or wherever else they can find a bench. The pub prices are too high for them.

I certainly think there is a drinking problem in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.

I like red wine too. Hard luck for you being allergic to it.

I seem to be allergic to it. And Margaritas, too. I used to love an icy Margarita, but they also cause scary after effects. Hope the day never comes when I can't sip a nice single-malt Irish whiskey over ice.
