They say he would slam the door...
Maybe he wouldn't. Maybe he needs someone to reach out now more than ever. Maybe he would welcome you or Nigel, where he might not care to see the family. Seems evident the family might have done more for them both before it turned to this final tragic event: Perhaps it is their guilt that makes it seem, to them, entirely his fault.

what a sad story.........
I have a friend with this disease and her husband exceeds patience. I understand how terrible it must have been for them both and truly frustrating. I hope he gets comfort from somewhere although there is no excuse for him hitting out.

For a moment there I felt like I was transported into the England of Agatha Christie! Take up writing when you retire!

What a sad story. My Dad had Alzheimers through his eighties and he was difficult to keep track of and he did very strange and frustrating things. My Mother, not understanding, would become very upset with him and yell at him and fuss at him. Then he would be like a little scared kid, not understanding why she was fussing at him. Fortunately for my Mom and Dad, there were six of us sisters to take turns taking care of them for as long as they could remain in their home.

When my mother was in the nursing home I met a woman that knew my father. We have the same last name. My father and she failed to figure out any relation when she was of sound mind. She thought that I was her nephew. You know beautiful lovely people reside in nursing homes. When my pastor and I returned for her things after the death of my mother one high strung woman disbelieved it in the defense of my mother. I thought that she meant “No, it couldn’t be. I’m sorry son.” At the Veterans Hospital an older senior man talked to me about a popular action television program at the time Starsky and Hutch. And the chaplain warned me that they could have been tough. At the time I was a pre-theological student before I went into the devil’s mass media. Ha oh my. BCA, BillJRoost

How sad
That a disease should destroy two people's lives (not to mention the others it effected) That is a tragedy of huge proportions

That's a really sad story. It is so understandable that the husband went off the deep end. Whether in the town or the countryside families are so much more isolated nowadays and left to cope alone with their problems. I hope that there is somebody in that family with enough insight to forgive him. All the best to you.
