I agree with Taps! Motivation is key to learning. I like your response that a good teacher should be somewhat idealistic, but with a lot of realism in there.

An interesting answer to an interesting question. That said, I think it might be necessary to first get an agreement on what we mean by 'idealism' in this case, for I suspect that Elinjo and you are using that term in different ways...

I have been a teacher for over 13 years. I enjoyed helping children on their way to their chosen lifescapes. It was about them...not me!

Very good response to elinjo's question. I think that sometimes teachers forget that they have not taught until a pupil has learned. I also think that the best thing a teacher can accomplish is to make a pupil want to learn.

A well throughout response! I was a classroom teacher for a year and moved to administration because I was born to create programming! When one knows what they want in education will determine their level of achievement; those who never figure it out go through the motions or continued experimentation! sam
