Thank you to all you kind people for your warm and supportive comments, which I'll pass on to my daughter.
Tomorrow's defence is not just a mock battle; it's for real. The experts will do their best to find flaws in her arguments; quite rightly too, because otherwise the qualification would not be worth anything at all.
I saw her earlier today and she seemed OK; just hope she manages to sleep properly tonight.
Well I'll let you know tomorrow evening whether she's still a Mrs. or a Dr.

As you say in your post, normally preparation will carry the arguments through, so it will be a hurdle that she will look back on with that warm satisfaction of success. My son grew out of asthma too, Elinjo..though I admit it is a scary thing when your child suffers from it. It all seemed like a bad nightmare as, in later years, I watched him race up and down the ice playing hockey. Hurdles are learning tools. With a strong mom behind her to show the example, I have no doubt you daughter will jump them all and be wiser for it.

I am in that race most days! lol Much good wishes to your daughter as she defends her thesis! I know she will do well! On the asthma, I would try not to worry; I have been asthmatic all my life and one just needs to carry the inhaler to ward any potential attack from things they are sensitive to! The medication today is so much better than when I was a kid! Your granddaughter is going to be fine! She may even grow out of it! Have a most wonderful week, too! Shelly

Life is a HIGH hurdles race!
Elinjo,
My life has been, anyway. I always seem to catch my leading foot on the hurdle, leaving my faceprint in the dirt!
Tell your daughter that everyone on Blogit is pulling for her. There is a winner in every race, and since it will never be me, she should win.

Your daughter deserves congratulations -- and cake!
And so do you, because nobody does it by herself. Woo! Hoo!

You pose a good question on life's hurdles. Adversities, and I have faced them, makes one stronger and gritty. The results of your daughter's Ph.D will be the fruits of hard labor. Next week, together, we'll celebrate. All the best.
