Tennyson's elegy is unique in that it is ABBA rhyme scheme and iambic tetrameter, that alone is a mammoth challenge! I like how it encompasses four parts! It give a bit of the psalm effect for me with its progression! They are tough ones to undertake, it takes a life changes event to take on a roject such as this! Wiith his friend being only 22, it is no wonder it was an incredible search in poetry! Great work agin! I like your use of varied examoles! Sorry I got behind, two of my children were in and I have been in visiting mode! sam

Abanerjee, one of the most interesting elegies I've ever read is weirdly
titled "An Elegy on the Death of a Mad Dog" by Oliver Goldsmith...there's a totally unexpected twist at the end that makes the reader do a double take.....

Re: Shobs
Just let things keep hapening in the world, and keep protesting wherever you feel you should. Why, thank you so much, my pleasure too

Abanerjee - The elegy (since it is a song of mourning & lamentation) of mine is "no one is listening to what is happening in this world"..lol. I truly learn so much from you and it's a pleasure to read you.

Re: Another interesting post Abanerjee!
Thank you lindo, this only means that your interests are varied, something that you would not have sought on your own and yet find interest, and I am so glad that you like these. I too like the bedouin Arabian tales - so romantic!

It is not the kind of information that I would have sought on my own so I'm grateful for the education I'm getting through your blog

Re: Shama
Thank you that you liked. I love your philosophic, often metaphysical, poems. I am now trying to see what can be said of the Lyric.

First, "The Ode" & now "The Elegy"so much to gain here at your blog. I enjoyed reading about the experiments poets made with form & content. Thanks for sharing.
