Re: 'twas the Irish poet, Robert Burns who wrote
That is true enough; Blogit is the world's meeting place.

'twas the Irish poet, Robert Burns who wrote
"the best-laid plans of mice and men aft gang aglay." I planned to travel the world, meet interesting people, write stories, spend time with compatible friends. And (except for traveling the world) I do these things, right here on Blogit.

Re. Oprah in Copenhagen.
The half hour programme will be shown in the U.S.A. on the 9th October. Apparently it will be shown in no less than 145 countries, when? No idea.

Re: FormerStudentIntern. Security for V.I.Ps
It's not just a question of strain on finances, it also means that the Police will be thin on the ground in many areas of the country, which  means that criminals might well find it easier to operate in peace and quiet.

I remember the Sydney Olympics in 2000 what a great party we enjoyed

I hope he is successful and the Olympics go to Chicago! It is such a great town! I played there in my late teens and early twenties! I love it that Oprah is coming! Shelly

That's really cool! And as you say, good for tourism. BTW, I'm suspect of generalizing a nationality too. It is like saying all Quebekers are separatists. Bah! Humbug!

I never thought about how a visit from a president or any other can really put a strain on finances in trying to get the proper security.

Rocking rector again.
They're going to close off most of the inner city on Friday for security reasons. So no, only on TV.

Re: Lustorlove.
What do you think she'd say if I invited her round for a nice cup of tea?

Re: Rockingrector
Much easier, cheaper and quicker to hop over from Stansted; that is if you would like to see Copenhagen. Best between April and end of October. The rest of the year we all suffer from winter depressions; so much for being the happiest people in the world!

hope all goes well with the President coming there and maybe you can see Oprah

Will you get to see any of them? on the news, perhaps. Every tijme I read your blog, Elinjo, I'm filled with a yearning to visit Denmark again. And it's so easy to hop over from Harwich. Must come.

Re: Is it True, Betty?
IMO any statement that begins with: The Danes, the Americans, the Chinese etc are... is highly suspect. Thanks for the kind comment.

Is it True, Betty?
Are the Danes the happiest people on the planet? If so, I'm moving over. lol. Not enough police officers in the capital city, huh? Hmmm, I hope everything goes smoothly with the President and First lady. Keep us informed of the happenings. I love your posts, really!

Betty, so sorry I didn't go back to my new blog earlier---just saw your generous comment; thanks very much indeed! I'm not too good at editing and uploading photos, so I'm afraid they're not very clear! Hope to do better!

Re: I was hoping the President and Michele would have time for a boat tour
Great minds think alike Pat, I've been thinking about whether to answer her appeal to local people.  I could tell her about all the nice, interesting and talented people I've met on this site, as well as of course Esperanto.

I was hoping the President and Michele would have time for a boat tour
of the city. After all your wonderful Blogit tours it seems a shame to come all that way and not do so. And Oprah! Well, I guess our Queen of Daytime TV will get to see all the wonderful nooks and crannies and interview people. Maybe you can get in a word for Esperanto as her producers scope out the place.

I wouldn't mind visiting Copenhagen myself someday, but I probably won't.  I don't have near as much desire to roam as I used to.

Betty, thanks for the updates; I didn't know about Oprah's visit! I love her show, and miss it now that it's no longer aired on our channels, so I will wait for you to tell me about this one! I hope you're having a good week, and Ina and family are doing well. Sorry for the brief comments and calling cards; you know my usual race against time! All the best, Nita.
