To funny, but like you said it's about cultural differences coming together.  I went to a drag show once, pretty wild. They looked great, but anyone with to much make up on kinda looks scary close up.

Fabulous! I have a heart for transvestites ever since, in my former life as a laywer, I got to represent one whose extremely valuable stage wardrobe had been destroyed in a flooded basement. I managed to get her ample compensation and henceforth, I was the darling of Berlin's transvestites. They never failed to invite me to the latest night club events, peformances etc, so I am not at all surprised that it was them who offered you shelter. See, Esperanto really builds bridges, doesn't it?

My friend Allen was a skinny, balding old guy with a thin pony tail until he put on his wig, made up his face and stepped into the role of Allison. Then s/he was a sophisticated, tall glamorpuss who caught everyone's eye.
