You are right.Instead of spending so much money on scientific expeditions it's rational to invest in improving our life on this planet

We're polluting the moon and Mars now because soon we won't be able to live on this planet - we need an escape route.

Pat, the earth has its cycles, me thinks...it's quite an experience to

Exploring space is fine, exploiting it is quite another matter.

We have to pick and chose our endeavors because we can't have or do it all. In trying to do everything we end up doing nothing. It's true whether we're deciding on what to have for dinner or how to save the world.

The part your wrote about waking up the aliens reminded me about a couple of movies I have seen: "Earth vs the Flying Saucers" and "Invisible Invaders". Maybe we should stop messing around in others back yards..

WELL I can't see what the prbe will do for unemployement, a world
economy in a mess, and people living in tent cities on the fringes of society. People dying for lack of health care etc and etc.

Sorry you're feeling so down-hearted. I heard the news about the lunar probe this morning. Although it's true that we've got a lot of problems that need solving on this planet, I couldn't help but feel very impressed by the project. Here's wishing you all the best.

This is the first post I've read this morning. I think I'll go back to bed now and pull the cover over my head.
