Elinjo - Been there with the depression and this post is very enlightening. Anti-depressants do have serotonin but did not know that of olive oil. I agree that diets are important to curb the effects of depression too. Have a pleasant weekend.

Moderate but steady alcohol, little/no sugar, lots of fiber.
Another possibility.

Re: Elinjo...
It could be that exercise is just as important as the diet, also with regard to our mental health.

Elinjo...
this is the diet I've been following pretty much daily for the past 20yrs. Combined with at least half hour of daily exercize, it forms a healthy lifestyle. Thanks for sharing this basic knowledge with everybody. - Ash

I've been following a Med diet for years, including a fair bit of
vino rosso, lol, primarily because I like it. Maybe my bouts of depression would be
worse if I were an
afficionado of MackieD's and KFC...

You must feel better, eating healthy food. After all, wouldn't expect a car to be happy if you fed it on sugar instead of petrol!

I think they are on to something here! I had been experiencing a bout with depression and I ate a large amount of fruit and nuts over the last few days and was feeling better but would never have put the two together without this article! It was so interesting on the olive oil, too! I have the use of a computer right now! What a frustrating ordeal. I got my infection from my son because we share the same network! Such a bummer! I can give you the instruction for hyperlink and then you can name your links if you would like! Have a great weekend, too! Shelly

You know, there really must be some truth to this. The mind/body connection is only now being understood. Besides, I love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. Yum!

Re: Vogue
According to that survey it helps about 30% of depression sufferers. It too get bouts of the blues and they send me rushing to the fridge, which makes me even more depressed afterwards. Glad you could use the critique.

That's exactly the diet I follow, sans the alcohol though. The sad news is, that I do have bouts of depression and the only thing that help then is chocolate. Thanks very much for your critique of my book in progress. It helped a lot.
