I love Tennyson, and find little time to read now, so this is a good trip down memory lane; thanks! Thanks too for your comment.

This poem rings to me of eternity: ever joyful, ever lamented.

Re: vogue
I was reading those comments in yours or was it Ian's blog? I savored it all, and am now motivated to do a Cleopatra version, the heroine that she was. The title, "How Aktium was really lost" would be such a fine one, and I think we can all be involved in the fun and knowledge. Thanks to you too.

I like Tennyson very much. So, you could hear Cleopatra's sceam? The whole idea has inspired me to write a short stroy, title: How Aktium was
really lost. Thanks for your interest.

Deep
It certainly is a "deep" piece of prose and a thought provoker. Excellent read.

I know Troosha, for someone like you it is more in the discovery of secret joys.

Re: sam
That is a great comment, "I am not a fan of the past". One can do nothing about the past, but can ruin an absolutely good present by worrying about the future. The past is not, and the future is yet not, only the present is, so be in the moment.

Abanerjee - As Sam says this is a stunning piece. The early years is somewhat like that of 1st love in some instances - a walk down memory lane, writing, learning from past mistakes..I shall be by to read the poems again.

It is a stunning piece but I am not a fan of the past! I like the present moment! But a desire to understand and of reflection makes for a great work! How are feeling, I saw in a comment you would be resting! sam

abanergee
Looking back on one’s life will always invoke both tears and secret joys, I suspect. Hopefully there is more of the latter…. (the direct link to the poem itself was a useful addition).
