Excellent Ian! The ominous politeness and veiled threats at the Gestapo HQ suspense, that had me sitting on the edge of my chair sweating.
Probably because I tend to be too politically correct, it jars on my sensibilities when I read words like 'kraut' and 'limey', but no doubt this is part of the jargon that people used at the time.
