Scintillating, Pat. Every word expresses your yearning for peace and quiet.

Some years ago I read a statistic
that the thing most housewives most crave is time alone, time on their own.

Such expressive imagery that gives clarity to it being okay to enjoy solitude, especially when the rest is deserved and eternal in its own right! I also liked how it stays tidy and comfy and welcoming under an old tree! The imagery has such a cool secondary level for me, the Tree of Life, the strength and endurance of a tree and so forth! But the comfortable rest beneath it is what got my fancy! KUDOS!!! sam

An outstanding poem Pat..very telling and I have those days many a time and I resort to quiet solitude. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and the kind comment.

"In the busy days..."? It seems to me from what you write that these current days are pretty busy for you. You are always comin' and goin', and gettin' and gabbin', and helpin' and doin'.... Do you ever just sit down and rest? As far as the poem, I think the Indians had a pretty good idea of putting their loved ones out in the weather on long stilts. I also always liked the Viking send off.

Agreed!
This poem is brilliant. I've never written poetry. I tend to focus on fiction (which I love) and opinion pieces, poetry, huh? Hmm, perhaps I could write a short poem, but to your standard? No. Again, excellent and so true.

Oh, I too am glad that you found the poem, because as Troosha has already said it's beautiful. Solitude is definitely not loneliness for me either.
