Naut
I suggest the folowing: you buy the iron and ironboard, put them up and then just stare at them until inspiration strikes.

I don't think I have ironed anything, ever - if I have, I must have totally repressed the experience of what I would regard as a rather mind-numbing activity.
But after reading your post, I realize why I haven't written much, and to rectify that situation, I shall go out and buy an iron, an ironing board and all the the other accoutrements necessary. And I shall start ironing - and by this time next year I'll have my first novel published...

I absolutely love this post. I cannot imagine ironing a towel anymore; you made me remember my mother with such fondness at that. She even ironed all the sheets and pillow cases. Nothing smells like a clean bed with sheets that were hung in the sunshine then ironed and folded. They are so smooth and slick you almost slide out of bed. Thank you for tripping that trigger of memory.

I also like to iron... and there is a lot of truth in what you said, making something nice out of something not nice has a therapeutic effect ... Many things work... gardening, cooking, painting, yes the human mind is a funny thing :-) Great post Vogue :-) xoxo

This is so true...anything repetitive DOES help. Crocheting and painting a wall are similar. Thanks for this extremely thought-provoking post. I am thinking now of the things that 'get the juices' going. Cooking and gardening...all of these get me in the zone to write. What a helpful post!

I'm with Ariala, Vogue. I'll take the driving over ironing, lol! Have finally got the connection back to hook up my camera to the PC. Now I just have to remember how to transfer the pictures here. Checked out your travel Blog...nice stuff!

Ironing doesn't take long these days...

In my experience, ironing, dish-washing, window-cleaning are all good for getting me back on track!

When I was barely old enough to get my head and arms above the ironing board, my mother taught me to iron by sprinkling and rolling up to dampen a bunch of ladies handkerchiefs. I thought I was hot stuff ironing and folding and stacking them. Later I graduated to pillowcases. I don't think I ever got good enough to iron my dad's white shirts. He was very particular with those. Of course, all this was before the steam iron. Fun memories.

Boiling eggs in cool waters, after all, needs ironing and as the fragrant pile grows, grows also ideas in creativity. Hey, you're right.
