Seattle
Sounds like a great place - just keep away from the sleazy areas. Great read Pat.

Here I am in my own version of Mundane
I went to New York City once about 10 months before the towers came down. I took my son up. I have a photo on this desk of he and I standing on the south tower. By the time my daughter was born, the towers were history. I am going to New York again next year. Not sure how I am paying for it yet but i'll figure that.  I would like Seattle I think.

I 've never been, though you make it sound enticing enough to go and visit, the next time I'm in Vancouver...Come to think of it, it actually sounds a lot like Vancouver...

A very introspective post. Nice. I believe you are a wondering woman no matter where you are. You will want to know, and will not be known. Follow your path and allow ease in your wake.

It sounds just like Sydney was for me for so many years. Trouble was the

exciting wondrous places I haunted on occasion when I was younger had become a challenge for an older girl. Now I love the peace of my rural islotion with the beloved.

I believe that you and I and Wiley and Oh many of us here are free spirits not easily understood . We let people see of us what they want to see, be who they would like us to be so they will never really know us wherever we live. I am too tired to care anymore, tis easier this way.

My oldest son took me to Seattle the end of August for a baseball game and museums! You are so right about the Public Market! It shuts tight and the characters are a sight to behold! I saw everyone you described in the market area near sundown! We took public transportation to get a feel for the people and it was an eye opener! All of it positive as well! No one seemed down, just moving along! Some of the street acts were very bad! lol

I had actually come by to give an accolade and a thank you. I have always thought you to be quite intuitive but very wise as well. When I read your comment regarding writing the novel in poetic form, it felt a bit awkward. That meant I would never escape! I did find it profound and since I respect you highly it was worth some serious thought! So I allowed it to linger in the forefront of my mind, almost in quietude! Suddenly, lol, days later, it becomes the greatest piece of advice to complete my epic poem on the Holy Bible. It needs the novel effect, no pun intended, to make it work! So my sage, I gracefully bow and tip my hat in wondrous gratitude for I do not believe I would have come up with that without your suggestion! It solves so many of the upcoming issues I was having with its presentation! Thank you!!! sam

My sister Eileen got her BA at Gonzaga U there many years ago, she was a nun and dead now from diabetes complications many years ago. I think I'd love Seattle as I do New York.

I love Seattle – the shopping, the charm, the dining!   I suspect every city has its dark side when night falls.  Downtown Victoria loses a great deal of its charm when the night dwellers come out.   Loved this write…

Re: elinjo, I get the impression you find compensations...
That's very true, there are compensations. And to be honest, even in Seattle I kept thinking there had to be more. So I have to admit it's probably not the place, it's me.

Re: TAPS, do people there know who you really are?
I don't think my own kids here know who I really am... They think I'm the woman I was when they were growing up, but slower.  It's just as well, really.

Aren't you?  (your last sentence)
Do the people there know who you really are beneath that Mundane patina?

It sounds as though it's difficult moving from the big city to a small town like your's. Though reading your blog I get the impression you find compensations all the same.
