In this country, the only knights of that type are called 'handymen' (or, if you're politically super-correct, which I am not, 'handypersons'), and they come not in shining armor but in dirty overalls and charge you an arm, which is better than the plumbers, who charge an arm and a leg...

Fortunately I'm married to a "Mr. Handy" but I remember the years that I lived alone and had to learn how to do those sort of things. If I dare so myself, I'm impressed a good many people with some new-found skills.

But ladders... not so much.

I admire you no end. I lived alone after my wife died for nearly 8 years. Most of it I didn't mind because I had learned all those skills that a lot of men don't have. Cooking, washing clothes, all of that. And I am a handy man, so that helped.
But eventually I really missed the 'feminine' in my life, and that calm perspective that you have, to think things out and act. I could best do that with machinery.
My life has always been happier because of woman, even one I divorced from. Now with Kabu in my life I feel complete again.

What a nice man! I think he got the window cleaning job and one good turn deserves another! KUDOS to both of you! Shelly

One of the things that I do not do anymore is climb up on stepladders or chairs or anything more than 6" off the floor. Because of that, I have some light fixtures that need cleaning and a clock that still needs to move back an hour. I hate to be bothering sons all the time.

Re: I'm one of those Knights.
Well if you run out of knightly challenges in Japan and start getting restless you will find lots of takers over here and will be richly rewarded with coffee, cakes and cold beer.

I didnt think there were anyone else like me, I have been alone without a man for 25 years but I have my kids but I never want to ask anyone for help and try to do it if I can, my son is about as helpful as I am and my daughter the same way, so I am afraid if I need a big job to be done I have to find one of those knights in shinning armour, but they do require pay.

I'm one of those Knights.
Yep, Betty believe it or not, I do doorbells, tree-felling, weeding, lawn mowing and a slew of other jobs for a cup of coffee (in the winter) or a bottle of iced beer in the summer. Us Knights don't expect much, just the simple things in life.

That's fantastic Betty..some masculine help is always needed and you found someone worthy of the knight in shining armour title. I can understand having to do things like that around the house too having experienced it myself. Have a peaceful day Betty and a lovely time reading.
