Clearly the "be careful what you wish for" adage comes into play with your delightful story.

I ADORE your nickname, by the way! Your comment was so interesting, because some of it still feels a little bitter; but it translates out as humor...a surprise to me, actually. Humor is the great mediator between pain and bliss....it evens things out...must be the God in us, whom, I believe, has a very keen sense of humor, indeed. Thank you, d.g.!

If you could play me your favorite song, what would you play?

Love Your Posts
I get a good laugh every time I read your posts! You have an incredible gift of relating what was probably very painful experiences from your childhood in a way that makes them humorous but also poignant. Love reading your work!

Darson - A great read and I only learned to play the guitar when I was in college. My dream which my dad & mum could not afford to make come true while we were growing up so I understand those emotions so well. So now I got my girls to learn both the guitar and piano while toddlers..in a way to make up for lost time I think.

I am feeling the love through the screen. I understand that you are living in Canada? Well I have never met anyone from Canada that didn't become a dear friend right off the bat. I love their humor, most of all. I don't know what the situation is with your dear son but I will play the drums when I get them for Christmas, in his and your honor. I will play them really, really loud so that everyone can hear!!!

Of all of the stories I've dreamt of writing, the family story was not one of them. Life has some interesting twists and turns, though....looks like that's where we're headed after all....would have never thought it...Thanks for your reading and for your comments, Naut. Means a lot.

Fantastic! I trust this is going to be a chapter in a book? About growing up - in that family?

That's so interesting to me, Wiley, because I never thought my family life was worth writing, more or less, reading about...but it's becoming more precious to me as I put it into words...especially when it comes to my sisters. I've been feeling very tender towards them lately. Older or younger, it's all the same basic family, though! We all hail from the same origins, ultimately! You and Kabu can sit around our table any day of the week!

Yep...I did the same thing with my son, come to think of it. $800 for a trumpet...and he was really, really good. When I thought I could get my money back, I let him quit. Then the music store said they wouldn't buy it back from me. Sheesh. He gets it out every now and then, just to taunt me. It all worked out because he discovered he could sing, and is in the high school's elite chior...a double bass...! So it's all good! They do find their way, even if it's not OUR way, don't they? Hugs to you, Sam!

It IS funny, after all. I had to take some deep breaths as I wrote about the part where I saw Father walking up the hill in my shirt...it still makes me mad!...but it's all material, after all....and definitely good for a laugh! Thanks for laughing along with me, that makes it all that much more fun!

I can't help it Darson, you make me laugh as you tell of your woes. I don't mean to but ... WOW, no kidding have to wear a smelly shirt??? I would have quit the band way before, but, yes I admire you so much for sticking with the parents plan. You were a good daughter

~ Just keep writing --- I so enjoy your novella here ~
