....wait....are you....a Godfather fan?...I'm not gonna lie...writing about it helps. And you've pegged me right on the venting...exactly what I was doing. I almost deleted it later in the day and replaced it with a happier post...but then...I decided to allow y'all to see my dark side. Like I said, the Bipolar Writer strikes again (self-diagnosed)! Ha ha ha. Next mood swing, eight o'clock....!

As Strickgold said, "I don't miss what went with the money..." There must be a lot of us around.

That is such good advice, Pat. And I know that is true, that what goes around comes around...I've seen it a bit in my lifetime...regarding those that at one point I couldn't WAIT to see them 'get theirs'....but it never happened when I was still angry at them, or when I wanted it to...it happened once I'd softened, and then it pained me to see someone else hurting like that, like they'd hurt me...because I know what that felt like...and it was rotten. And poor Mike is having some hard lessons lately. He's not allowing it to soften him yet, so I fear they'll be repeated in increasing intensity until he gets it. I hope that will be soon, for his sake. He has so much good in him, and such potential to be extremely well-loved. We humans are funny creatures. And verrry good advice not to take satisfaction...I just kinda feel...sad. Ya know?

Okay, have you ever watched that movie OVERBOARD, with Goldie Hawn? My favorite, favorite line in that show is when the butler tells her something to the effect of, 'Rarely does a person get to see both sides. You, madame, have had that rare privilege...' or something like that. She was wealthy, and she was poor, all in the same lifetime....I can honestly say that while it was nice to buy off-road vehicles for the kids for their birthdays, I get a lot more mileage out of them knowing I worked really hard to get them a new pair of jeans they weren't expecting. It is SOOO the thought that counts, not the rest of it. Thank you so much for reading "L.O.L."! (Sorry, everyone I enjoy gets a nickname, eventually.)

Wow, good thought! You're ahead of the game and wiser than the rest of us to just avoid that issue altogether. And that thing with the brain....sounds extremely unpleasant...!

Yes it can. Unecessary tension. But if that's where your treasure is; your heart follows...as we well know. Thanks, FSI!

Amen to THAT. If that's what's in your head, there's not much room for anything else....love, kindness, laughter, etc....it can be all-encompassing. Not good.

...You can say THAT again....! I would never dream of saying such things A) out loud and B) with an audience and C) in front of my own dad, who by all rights maybe should've clobbered him! If that were my kids.....wow, there'd have been a discussion. He has to walk on eggshells to even get this kid to answer the phone, so I guess I understand...sorta....nah, my kids would still get it.

All I can think of to say, by way of comforting you about the
thoughtless and cutting remarks of the stepson -- at that age they're totally stupid and self-involved, half the time they think with their genitals and the other half they don't think at all. He's got a few life lessons coming. Try not to take satisfaction when what goes around comes around to him.

A very true and clear picture of life

I know I have been on welfare and been up there with a decent income and have been alone for 25 years without a man and now I am retired and almost at the welfare level but I am fortunate to have a good retirement but not enough to take care of my kids.Money cant buy you happiness for sure

I'm sorry, Sunny! I was just telling Kabu via email that I was having one of 'those' days. Feeling rather serious, I'm afraid. Writing helped and I'll be better by tomorrow! It's always fun to watch a rather 'bipolar' blogger! Now she's happy; now she's not....round and round we go! I'm not really bipolar (at least it hasn't been diagnosed, let's put it that way, shall we?) Just a down day after so many good ones. Don't know why! It's GORGEOUS outside!

Thanks for reading, Sunny Seven!

Wow! That is a lot of writing there. lol ;-)
I'm not sure that I agree that everyone learns that lesson in life about money.
I think some never do, but spend their whole lives trying to hold on to thinking that money, money and more money will bring them happiness.
It's a sad way to live, I agree.

My mouth is hanging open over the fact that YOU had to give HIM a settlement...what sort of a guy would even take it? AND an affair on top of that? I wish the law were that whoever cheats forfeits all the community property...now wouldn't that be interesting??? Holy Cow, Kabu...you and I certainly could talk for hours and hours....comparing notes. I wish we had something fun in common, like, haircolor or love of corduroy or some other random thing...other than this. Wouldn't wish this sort of thing on anyone. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, eh?

That's it....we are kin you are formally adopted by Kabu.We could talk
over the top of each other for hours. OMG.I was checked out once too more than once actually....the man was borrowing fromme AND get this ....I am the one who had to give him a settlement last year when the divorce became final....AND he admitted to a 10 year affair. Your step son just wants Dad's money for himself. $%^^&*&
