I think it is a good idea to introduce those concepts earlier as well! I think it is marvelous that you have tutored Brian for two years as well so please don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back from time to time as well! sam

If there was one subject I hated at school it was math! Essential I know, but definitely not me.

I agree with you FSI ~ to a degree that is...It's funny but, my husband whom was an engineer first then onto his specialty in Cardiology, simply states that algebra, trig, geometry can get too complex for minds as to the reality of 'when do you use such complex math?'  so, for those that struggle with equations, I find it sad --- I, myself, struggled because in my mind I could not make sense of most of the equations or I would think, why go around the long way when you can just do it 'this' way and lo and behold a lot of times the answers were correct, however, I did not do the equations as how the instructions or instructors wanted it done... --- I'm more into common sense stuff or 'gifted' in other areas.  I imagine its good yes, to start young --- but I do think sometimes we stress the youth too much ---  Elyse

I was very bad in math and I barely passed Algebra. Now, I am good at basic math and I LOVE algebra. At least now, while it's still easy. When it gets harder I may change my mind. I wish I could have understood Math when I was in school.

I agree.  I did not have any algebra until 8th grade and I just loved it.  I could have handled it a whole lot sooner.
