IN the Phillippines, grandmas are called Lola...........
My grandchidlren call me Abuelita as they have ten thousand grandmas, etc......I like to stand out in the crowd.
My first son's first word to my mom, from her first grandchild, was, "Ba." She said, he is referring to me and took that name as hers. It worked. She has now been Ba to absolutely everyone on Earth for 42 years.
Love just spreads itself around.

Re: Whatever they call you, as long as it's fun and with love,
Amanda is one of the dearest names ever to me (long story), so when you said Lucy Amanda, my heart melted. Glad you had one of those in the family...

I envy anyone who has a mind for technology; I do not. I simply have to look at something technological and it malfunctions on the spot. I am a psychology major, too! And I'm leaning towards minoring in Philosophy, so we agree on this....I just absorb it. I took a lot of time off to raise the kiddos, so now I'm back in school and loving it. I wondered if you were a Lit major because of your knowlege of what you're presenting on your posts. It is obvious that you enjoy the written word like I do. And your clever comment about GiGi ling all the way....good one, verrry good one!

Whatever they call you, as long as it's fun and with love,
it's great to be a grandma. Although when I first say that word I think of my own grandma Lucy Amanda: round, long blue dress, white hair pulled back in a bun. Nothing like a MiMi...

Hi MiMi, no, Darson, what a delightful personality you are, always making me laugh, GiGi ling all the way. BTW, literature is where I drown myself to seek beauty and solace, no formal university study as such, (philo&psycho) being my other loves, but my degree is computer engineer and am presently studying intelligent mobile application that should be a rave in the next 2-3 years across the world. So you see, all scattered. Now, can you envy me?

YaYa is really nice! I like it! Wish I'd thought of that; maybe Mik would be calling me that by now, if so! Oh, well. He'll learn MiMi by the time he learns, say....hippopotamus....!

My Bonus daughter is the best! She's made a place for me with them...and don't think I don't know how fortunate I am with a step-kid...it doesn't always go that way. I've heard the harrowing tales....but her brother still hates my guts, so it evens out...keeps me from getting too proud about things....

Yeah, I know...but couldn't she have some name of affection, like RayRay or something? That's what I call her...I think she needs to feel recognized for her efforts. She's really good to the family.

That's so sweet, Darson.
In regards to the grown children referring to the added Grandmum as Rayna, don't be too sad by that...It may just be that they feel they'd be replacing her in their memories by calling her Grandmum.

Re: Re:
Seriously! His real name is Michael and he went by Mike until second grade when he dropped the 'e'! It was so hilarious because I worked in the same school district as the schools my children attended (not all school administrators do that to protect their children) long story short I got calls from all his teachers asking if I had given my permission! I just said it's his name, he may do as he chooses! And 20 years later, it's MIK! lol Loved this! sam OMW! His best friend at the time was Nik! And they were in classes together and the names were enough to give the teachers fits, so it was good they were nice boys! In high school their girl friends were hockey players! LMAO still to this day on that one! Such a wonderful twist of irony!
