Go to Life in the Rocking RectoryAdd a commentGo to A change at church

An ordinary person, yes, but one that has made a committment, has taken a stand, and that other ordinary people feel is the leader of the flock and one to be emulated.  It brings with it a lot of responsibility that other ordinary people are glad that they don't have.

I was raised in parochial schools just about all my early - mid life.  I revered - was in fact, told to revere the collar - the dress (nuns habit) as "holy" ~ One of those mystery's of faith I guess.  However, most of those nuns and priests would come to our home and they were very 'human' ~ but oh, I do so revere a person whom has dedicated their life to learning, speaking and teaching others of God's Word and works. ~  ~ I'm glad for that Church as I think they'll find a real jewel in you - Elyse

I suspect
it's because you will have expreienced many of life's trials and tribulations - directly and through others - and people will have the confidence that you can handle any situation that arises!

You have an inside track to God and
everyone wants to feel closer through you. Glad you are being welcomed so warmly.

Perhaps it has something to do with you wanting to devote time to community work after retirement? Whatever the underlying reason it must have been a joy to feel they appreciate you.

Perhaps it's because he is perceived to be a man of God and the two of you have simply what it takes..

rector, I guess it's a sign of authority and respect and indentifies who
you are..I know my brother, the supposedly "retired" Pastor, has a dog collar he once mentioned he wears perhaps at a wedding or funeral, or some special service, but besides that, he just wears a suit and tie.....

Some people have a thing for authority.

There is still some extra respect for the clergy amongst the congregation

and normal British reserve has given way to respect but more they are rich. They have a lovely rector to assist, participate, be there with them. You will be as busy as possible again soon.

ps I really enjoyed the down load. It spoke to me ....the tough love part was just what I needed to read. Bless you dear friend

I imagine they are really pleased to have someone there
who really understands how things are. Funny, sometimes i notice that too about better treatment particularly when i worked for a very good newspaper but now it is just a matter of how I am with people, and if people feel they have rapport.
