- Go to Living without money!???
Very interesting. She is a special lady.
I don't think very many people could do that.

I can go a few days without spending money...
but only if I've already stocked up. It really must be tough, but creative to live that way.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. I don't think I could do it though unless I really had to.

What an interesting lady! She certainly has succeeded in showing up materialism for what it is. However, as a general rule it would not work IMO; after all she is dependent on the people who have earned the money to pay for a home who will let her sleep on their couch. Though in a limited way we could reduce our dependence on money by bartering skills.
What are you prepared to barter with me in exchange for lessons in Danish and Esperanto?

I'll be there in a couple of days! Can I bring my dog? And don't worry about the van - there's only my books in there, and my computer...Mind you, I've also got a few pots and pans, 'cause I like to cook, and I'll even teach you...

I had mixed emotions watching the clip - part of me remembered wanting to be like that when I was younger. But it's impossible to be that "carefree" when raising kids these days - or even when married. Within family institutions, it's not a good idea to have no clue what each day will bring!! However, the writer/journalist part of me loves that lifestyle - the energy I get from not knowing what will happen next. What will my next assignment be? Who will be touched by one of my articles and let me know. Where will that lead? (It will lead to Vogue coming to visit in the dead of winter, that's where it will lead!!!!).....Mal

Not for me. I'm very 'home' oriented. I like new adventures, and the surprise of each day, but want that same little familiar space to welcome me when I'm ready to put my head down. That lady has guts! Thanks for Teling us about it. It was very interesting!

I've heard of her while in Germany and looking at the video, I felt like I was back there (can you tell that I miss it?). It reminds me a bit of the Buddhist monks who are also possession free. One must feel a certain liberty and a weight off one's shoulders when like her, one has very little material possessions and no responsibilities others than to feed oneself and find a bed for the night. There are also a few people in some villages who do exchange services like that. I wonder if this would make us more human? More relationships oriented and less material oriented? A better society? A better people? Difficult to know. Thanks for the link to the video, meine Liebe, I did appreciate it immensely.

I guess I could turn that motivation into a challenge to couch crash instead. Miami here I come! HAHAHAHA
