It would seem that often a sad life and suffering tend to
bring one to writing poetry. It's kind of like the old
gospel songs and negro spirituals came out of
a life of slavery.

Aba, I have enjoyed Cowpers works - this in particular is very very moving - it can be perceived as dark and gloomy yet, rich with feeling and passion. And yes, I think the despair crys out - very sad - the history behind this man. Great studies you bring here ~ and I hope you're doing well with all the 'final's coming up? Will you be graduating soon? All my best to you Aba ~ so thankful you take time to add some inspiration here

Abanerjee - Fantastic summary... happiness is quite subjective..if you have not much expectations inspite of despair in your life there is much to be happy about to keep you fulfilled. I loved the poem too.

Not seen you around much..season's greetings to you and yours.
