"Re-purpose"? I've never even heard that word before...but it is sooooo good? Mind if I borrow it, Pat? I know, pitching it is hard sometimes...!

Ugggh....You may get some stories you never wanted to hear! I just put more money into their 'therapy' fund...figure that ought to cover it. If I can't fix it, I'll have to pay for someone that can. All three of them claim that they're 'scarred'...they say it with a smile, but we'll see!

Elyse!
We stuffed T.P.in our shoes to make them fit, back in the day, too! I'd forgotten all about that!

Some people can pull bargains out of the thrift store and dress
like a million bucks. I'm not one of them. My deal is to wear something until it falls apart, and then find a way to re-purpose it. If I could just learn to pitch things...

LOL - I can imagine your sister's face when your mom did that - and even more her version of it later!! Parents can be highly embarrassing sometimes. Oh, wait! I'm a parent!! Better go talk to my kids....

LOL ---- what a clincher ~ oh Darson you do just bring me 'round to the biggest smiles - and laughs like out loud. Yes frugality is good - but I do remember some of the thrift store items and handmedowns for years --- and even toilet tissue stuffed in the toes to make it fit. Oh yes, I remember. You are just amazing Lady - you share so well, you make me linger with each word, description and witty comments in between.

Frugality definitely has its place. I love to 'vintage' shop for the most amazing clothing, and we buy/sell on Craigslist all of the time. I can also make leftovers over that you'd never recognize AND that would look delicious. A little cheese, some sauce, a few spices...voila! New meal. My kids never even know.

Hmmmm....great question...the way Lauren told it, it was an entire apple....but perhaps she split it in two and put each half in a baggie with their initials on it.....?

Ohh, there's no doubt about it....I AM ONE....there's just a limit to how stingy one ought to get...and we all sort of know when we've crossed that line, don't we? When a guy drives your daughter home after she's been stranded, (and it was a fifty mile round trip)....there needs to be more than an apple's worth of compensation....!

My grandparents were the same way. I think a lot of that came from the Depression. My parents are not like that. I tend to be frugal as well.

No; they were polite at the time, but kept the friendship going for a while with my sister and Marci...and never let them live it down. "Would you like an....apple...or something?" was a repeated phrase! We've laughed about it for years.

Not at all.....! It's about $15.95 per month...the cost of a Blogit membership, where I vent! Total therapy!
As Lillian and I always say, the stuff our parents do makes great 'material'. They're very entertaining.
