Lava soap... I haven't looked for it lately

but have some around that is not that old.

Lava soap is a pretty mildly abbrasive soap that is not bad for that whole skin-renewal business... don't know about the drying-out of the skin factor, but never noticed a problem with it in the past.

For real grungy-hand cleaning, I have always liked Boraxo--grainy enough it is almost like a hand-massage...

Whacky
Your post got me curious Whacky, so I looked up 'Lava Soap' on eBay and a single bar was just sold in its original packaging for $13.00.  Keep searching young lass.  You could clean up - sorry.

The ad I really remember is from years ago, about toothpaste. "You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent." I can remember the jingle, too! How sad is that???

Hi Whacky!
It is scarey to think about but yes, what DO we use?  Pure what?  Oh well, Happy New Year, and keep up the pondering!

Your whackiness...
Yes, they still make Lava, I have a bar on the utility sink and a liquid form in one of those dispenser jugs and if that doesn't do it, good old Go-Jo with pumice will peel your skin right off!

' There’s a luncheonette in town that has a bottle of dish detergent in place of hand soap in the only restroom. They substitute paper towels with bath tissue. BC-A, Bill’s RLJst

I use Dove for sensitive skin...eveything else except the terribly
expensive Pharmacy ones just give me terrible rash and terrible hives. When things were rashioned after WW2 in Australia Mum could only get Lyle soap...harsh hard on the hands and body. Then she used pears much softer.

I remember those ads, Whacky!  I love the dove moisture bars...only ones that don't dry me out!

If Ivory soap is 99.9% pure, LAVA is 100% pure LAVA SOAP, Silly!
Whacky,
I suspect that either soaps aren't profitable enough to advertise them very much now, or perhaps, other commodities are far more profitable, sells itself, needs only word of mouth advertising, (free) and so the savvy investors washed thier hands of the whole sudsy, soapy mess, and put their money into "Green," agricultural investments. Risky business!
I have been told that soap is a much safer investment, but it doesn't earn the nearly the same amount of profit. Guess there is always some kind of a trade-off, huh? Think that I'll just keep both my freedom and poverty, thank you.

I go for the cheap stuff usually
as long as it keeps me clean I'm all for it!  Oh, and I'd rather use shower gel.
