...Like I did! Aren't we lucky to have such characters spice up our lives?

You really bring it to life, Darson, for both young adults or the older ones, so write on! This was a nice, warm post - bet everyone who reads it loves Sauly!

That would be so cool! We should all go down there and be his groupies, if he is!

What is it about your comments that make me grin? You are very generous with your compliments, abanerjee! I will never lack for material because I've been surrounded in my life by nothing short of fascinating people. We are all of us fascinating, once one looks a bit deeper than the surface. I had a neighbor that was a night security guard...he looked like Archie Bunker...and came to find out years later that he was a fire-eater and could lie on a bed of nails. There isn't a common person among us; I'm convinced of it.

Elyse!
Awwww! So you're a fellow Andy fan? My husband sings Moon River to me now sometimes when he's being funny. Thanks, Elyse!!!

Maybe he's working as a performer, doing tributes to Elvis
somewhere in Vegas. What a neat story, and very well told.

Darson
It is Darson telling us about Sauly that makes Sauly truly great! ... and again ... wondrously graceful write. I am plain enamored with your writing style. Very, very, well done!

Love the name, Sauly ~ and I bet y'all were in awe of the toys --- wow, Marx - and I giggle because I can see your little face taking a few glances at the reddish-pink bouffant - LOL... Elvis and the Pelvis...this write of yours was hard for me to end, because I was savoring the lines after lines.  Hey, I agree Andy Williams was a keeper.  His voice ~ what a swoon.  Very Loving and warm tribute.  Darson, this was a great write. Hey there, Darson.  No need to apologise.  Keep your eyes peeled though, I'm about to start the prologue for another story I'm considering sending in for my next online course...

You know me too well. Of course I was somewhat offended....was she telling me I was kind of....juvenile (which is true, to some extent, but only in the nicest way...!)

Try another editor. I am not considered a young adult anymore at 73
They are great. I would read them all day long.

That's interesting, an editor I've approached deems my stories as those for 'young adults'. I think that I try to write for all ages. Is that the genre that it strikes you as, just wondering?...there might be a consensus, here. I'm perplexed by this, but it is what it is, I suppose. Thank you so much for your kind words, Justi!

I have heard that Mrs. Vivas passed away, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sauly did.

WHY am I such a ditz?? Nope, but I'll be going there very shortly. I'm so sorry! I thought I had, but I must not have....! Many apologies, LLM.  Love ya back!

That is so incredibly good. Google him and see if he shows up in Vagas doing Elvis. I do so love your stories. I would like to see you do a book of childhood stories, you tell them so well.

I would imagine that if they can afford it Sauly and his mother (if she's still alive) would go to once a year to do the candlelight vigil for Elvis.

What a sweet, sweet story, Darson.  Since you know Sauly's last name, you really should try to look him up!  What a little ham he must have been.

This story brings tears to my eyes.  A dear friend of mine in Scotland used to imperonate Elvis for me all the time.  His absolute favourite song to sing to me was ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT?  Ironically, you can't hear a trace of his rough Scottish accent when he sings Elvis's songs.

Every night, he'd pick me up and carry me around and whisper sing in my ear..."are you lonesome tonight?  Do you miss me tonight?  Are you sorry we drifted apart?"

I'd bury my face in his neck night after night and sob.  I think somehow, he lived for that.

I'm crying now...Have you been able to read the beginning of Ben's story yet?

I love the way you write.  And I love you...
