That's a really good post! I like the way you compared the first family and the 2nd man. It should help all to examine their own lives and hope they are more like the first. Thanks for visiting my blog. I commented there on your comment.

You're making it so that I'm going to have to go and buy all new pairs of sunglasses....because my head is swelling a little...! THANK YOU for the lovely praises. If those writing muscles are getting stronger, I only have God to thank. He uses us writer-types as tools to convey love, that's what I think. Look around at all of the skill on this blogsite alone...yourself included, abanerjee. Thank you for sharing what you do. It blesses lives.

You should put that picture of you and Jag on your Smile Wall, it made me smile when I saw it...what a great memory of man and dog by the water.

Yeah, I call these types biodads...there are biomoms, too. Not something one would aspire to. I have a feeling you already have the jump on that Smile Wall, Miss Friendly and Kind to Everyone!

If it's true that we're all 'connected', FSI, then you were there, indeed. I'm happy to have been the instrument to convey that...there are so many good people out there. More than the so-called 'bad' ones.

I would honestly like to read that book. I'm a big Robert Fulghum fan...his essays are heartwarming. Thanks for the compliment, and thanks for the tip. I'm actually a big Pat B fan, too. Your writing style is so very REAL...it's refreshing. Like I've said before, coming from you, that's a very nice comment, Pat.

Your comments make me think of those words, "Go and do thou likewise." I've been blessed with so many kind souls. The best way to give back is to be one of them. Thank you for the reminder. This is a debt that I will never be able to repay fully, but I can try.

I have an awful lot of angels in my life, that's for sure. My gratitude for that overflows. Thank you, Angel-MamaKabu. As you well know, you're one of them.

Well said, Luci! Who cares if we're ever adored by the masses if our own kids can't stand us. They say that kids and dogs are the best judges of character...they KNOW....

The Wirewoods are a unique and amazing family. I've been so fortunate in my life to be surrounded by such types. I count you and the other Blogiters as those in that category as well. Thanks, LLM!

This one just so beautifully flowed, but this is something usual in your case. One great thing I admire about you is that not only you are a keen observer but a very sensitive soul too. You see good in others because you are yourself good from within, otherwise such beautifully expressive narration is not possible. Kudos, lady Darson.

Fathers are just people who happen to have had sex and got
someone pregnant, or married someone with kids. Some are good and smart and some are not so, I want the smile wall in my life;) very powerful piece of work, could be a chapter one too !

Great writing here, wonderful comparison and contrast.
There's a book out, "The Best American Essays, 2009" edited this time by Mary Oliver. It's the latest in a series published by Mariner Books / Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. When it comes to saying it right, they've got nothing on you...

Oh Darson this rings of such Love and appreciation of that which matters most in fullfilment of life. I'm so happy to know of this family - and by your eyes, they do have big hearts. I aspire to live this and choose to welcome those whom God sends my way - for whatever. I am so glad you are welcome in their hearts and home - it shows that you carry their Love with you and that my Lady is what is important. Good write - xoxox~ Elyse

It gladdens my heart to read this that you have such love in your
life. You are one of God's angels and he watches over you...and this relationship with these wonderful people is no coincidence but there to love and guide you, to cherish and protect you. Thank you for posting this.xkxkxkxkxk

Thank you for sharing that touching story. It's a reminder that charity begins at home; It's something a lot of community do-gooders forget.

A beautiful post, my dear friend. I sit here with tears welling in my eyes. If it's true that God sends His angels to walk amonst us, surely these people are to be counted among them. I am blessed to have read this post. Thank you so much for sharing...
