The silence is deafening for a while. Then you get used to it.
And into your mind come scraps and pieces of conversations, happy times, times when you had to referee fights. This is when you actually have time to write down what your heart remembers. Odd things trigger these memories -- the smell of their favorite food cooking, a few bars of music on the radio. Someone laughing.

You are such a wonderful writer. Yes I can tell you first hand the silence is often too, too much. I know we should struggle and get through as a butterfly to the side where we are productive without them except on very rare occasions so they can form their own crew to pass along, but it is hard, yet sweet in memory.

yes I have memories good ones almost all of them and Grandchildren..double
love.....child of my child.....but even they don't need a Nan like when they were little...I thank God every day that I really love my quiet life with dear Wiley......the quiet is Golden.
