How difficult and scary it must have been to live in those conditions or not knowing the outcome. That is not the way to live...to be under constant threat, to be so near death...I can NOT imagine...

I've never had
to live with such fear. If things go well, I never will have to. Thanks for your post.

What a world we live in!
Very interesting (and sad) post. Wish we could just all love one another, but I guess that is not for this world.

And now look how poor and oppressed Egypt is from having this type of leadership. Bad for everyone involved. Oppression begets oppression. I am glad you are better now.

This is so scary. I'm ashamed that I don't remember those comments by Nasser. Living so far away, it always seems like another world over which we/I have no control. But there can never be an justification for such out-and-out racism and warmongering. What a horrific time for you all.

I was reminded of how lucky I am to have been born and raised in the US
I spent Easter weekend with my son's girlfriends parents who are from the Congo and they talked of the war there and the threats they went through. It is hard to imagine the daily horror of waking to someone wanting to kill you. Although I was stalked for a while and it was nerve racking.

This is riveting in portraying the tension and sense of foreboding just prior to the Six-Day-War from a child's perspective...
