Amazing ....that is a tribute to what a positive attitude and a survivor
can do. Focusing on the good makes a huge difference. Thanks for reminding me. Maybe you should consider a manuscript for at least a short story about your experience there. It sounds highly inspirational and like something you would just have to finish reading.

Your a strong woman... so horrific for you to endure and yet you had concern for others and were there for them too.

I have a couple of friends that found themselves in a burn unit. One was blown off a very large tank while working for a petroleum company. The other sucked fire down his throat when something unknowingly made it's way into a bonfire. Between welding and my last job working with equiptment and material heated over 400 degrees, I can only imagine the pain of my burns multiplied. You are still here... And that's wonderful.

it's funny how the worst of situations can spawn the best relationships
almost as if we compensate for our surroundings by forming much more meaningful connections...

I'm so glad this is behind you now.
I feel so sorry for those little children whose parents are so cruel. Watching a thing on Court TV about a man and his wife being tried for murder. Their mentally challenged 16-year-old daughter was chained to her bed, and died when the house burned. I think there's a special corner of hell reserved for people who damage children.

It7s true, you do have a postive attitude and
soothing way of speaking. Good for you Chris. You should have been a hospital clown. Now don't get me wrong, that is a compliment. Hospital clowns are in New Zealand hospitals to cheer up the ill (apparently many US hospitals have them also). The Robin Williams movie "Patch Adams" made the public more aware of these "angels" in hospitals. great post, girl.

Re: Hazel
Sorry, Naut. I should've reposted about the house fire I was in first...then this one.
In 1985 I almost died in a house fire, getting my kids out, then the people who lived upstairs. I was in bad shape, but the doctors told me I was a miracle. I healed up so well, that they only had to graft my right hand. They thought I would be blind and a "monster"
I am very lucky and grateful.

Even if this post is kind of funny - I must have missed something somewhere (not surprising; it happens a lot to me, LOL), but I had no idea that you were badly burnt! I do hope you have fully recovered...

Cricket, I too have endured 3rd degree burns (leg) acid baths, skin grafts
I have two wierd looking, foot long, three inch wide, patches of whale-belly white colored skin on my right thigh, where donor skin was taken, then stitched over the newly granulated meat on my lower right leg, (HUNDREDS of stitches!) above my ankle, where my sock stopped gasoline from traveling further downward. I was hospitalized for nine weeks. I think that unless one has been through such a memorable experience, it would be like trying to imagine what it would be like, to experience a migraine cluster-headache, a broken leg, and an impacted and infected toothache, all at the same time. One may think that they can guess what it would be like, but they really have NO CLUE, because they have never had any of these experiences. Good posting, my friend. Been there, done that, skipped buying the tee shirt, though.
