- Go to Speaking English as My Second Language.
It can be tricky understanding a different accent.

Oh dear. Must be pretty hard. It takes time, but I'm sure it will be easier once they know how talented and wise you are

I'm happy for you-
B{Z You know even people that speak English native have the issue of understanding other vernaculars and trying to enunciate their own for others. The problem’s that not all vernaculars are played up in film, television, and music love. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

Hello Clare...I am absolutely delighted to meet you here. So you are a Sarawakian ..just wonderful. I think your English is as good as your first language. I can understand the difficulty in understanding thick accents too. I read your profile just now and some of your entries a few days ago actually and you are doing great. Fantastic Claire. Thank you for the lovely visit and do keep in touch.

Yes! They are getting forgiving, and they''ll treat you lovely if you treat them the same way
So, my plan in this foreign country is, to just be nice to others and avoid getting in arguments. Thanks Sam

Re: lustorlove
Indeed! People keep on asking me if I were from America.
In Malaysia (my hometown), we are thought American way of speaking but British way of writing.

'Pardon' is not a word that I have been exposed to very much, but I find it endearing and may just adopt it.

The accents can be tricky. A former French teacher of mine said everything that he had learned went out the window when he arrived in Atlanta, Georgia.

clairerichard, one thing we can be sure of, as the world gets smaller people will have to be more accepting anf forgiving of one another!
