You recount your every single experience with such finesse; it's no wonder you're gifted. That 'allowance' thing that your dad had because he earned a paycheck and your mom didn't, and being from a refugee background would cook in that frugal way, to the sufferings of you children, was indeed touching. Marvelous! Kudos!!

I inwardly called the people that flocked around him the 'silly' people. They were the ones that were so easily fooled. It had more to do with them than it did with him...they were needy people...and narcissists attract that, with their supposed charm and 'plastic' remedies to the needy people's loneliness. They are easy prey, the low-lying fruit. Charlene wasn't fooled at all. Neither were her parents, who, I'm sure, were warning her about my father.

He worked in a hospital, where he charmed the patients...or used them as further captive audience. Some people adored him and sung his praises, others could not stand the man. It was all a matter of perspective. His co-workers didn't like him and he was eventually fired from every job I've ever known him to have...due to the interpersonal complications that inevitably occurred.

unless he kept up his own love of himself....
a little man like he is would have nothing......real people must loathe him.

What did Gerald do for a living, or was he just a 'man about town'?

Perhaps Gerald should have realized he was only attractive to someone his own age, if they were a bit desperate.
