It is so sad isn't it? He doesn't talk about these things much, but I would feel so bad when he used to tell me that his son had come to pick up money and such.
It's like he would feel a little happy, just because he got to see his son, yet the situation would also make him sad.
Maybe we can influence him and see what he says? It would be interesting to see how much he really listens to me when I babble on to him endlessly about various things.
