Fascinating! I am just catching up with on your travels through the NY subway, and its interesting to see how these explorations become a kind of refuge from the oppressive realities of your house...(I hesitate to call it a 'home')...

Even these years later, your words here ring true as an adolescent - taking us in there with her. A wonderful talent, Tzippy.

It almost makes me feel guilty as I read of your pain......
yet, I can't help it. Your writing this story has to be a part of a healing process and we're going along for the ride.

He can take away my freedom but cannot touch my mind
That was my Motto for the silly 20years that like your Mom, I let someone rule over me, allowed him to ruin every pleasure.

A person's mind can do so much in getting them through the tough times. Through this I can tell that your mind did just that.

Tzippy, it was fine how your mind created a wonderland beneath the streets. That's how you survived the torture of being a new American with a new stepfather. It's what we all do. Fun reading you + your poems.

I was happy you made the experience joyful! He is such an ogre!! To claim poor to save money is just awful! He has to be the biggest tight wad! I wonder why your mother did make an exit; it would have been difficult but she might have had to stay married for a period of time for her status, or to become an American! It was just a horrible situation for everyone! sam

Very talented and intriguing storytelling. Now I know more about the subways. Good idea to blank that Crazie
out and get something out of your new life. The attention to detail and memory is impressive. A wish for new and better things for you, always.
