I am a doner and I think my daughter is and my husband is. I have been fortunate not to have family or friends who needed an organ, but that would be hard. You hang in there and talk to God about this. He can cut more red tape than the world can manufacture. Be brave dear. You have such a loving heart.

I will pray for your friend, God knows who she is.

For me it's a no brainer
there's no downside to giving away something I don't need anymore anyway. People don't donate because they're scared and don't need to be.

Ah, Bel. Don't give up. Many of us are signed up as organ donors.
My kids' dad was diagnosed some 20 years ago with a hereditary liver disease, Alpha 1 antitrypsin enzyme deficiency -- apparently both his parents carried the genetic codes. He had a transplant on Thanksgiving day, 1992. Sixteen years later, Dec. 2008, when he had a massive coronary, it was that transplanted liver that stopped organ shutdown. He has survived 18 years so far -- so there's hope for your friend.
