Novel experience
I love Satsumas they are so tasty and easy to peel! Yum, you are very fortunate. Well your writing is also your work as well it probably will just take a bit longer to get paid for it. Writers write that is what we do so making time for it is always important.

Keep at it and it will be finished in no time and you'll be on to your next one.

Malcolm --- "quality children time by the fire, accompanied by satsumas and lots of mugs of steaming hot chocolate I expect. " is a perfect vision --- so warm ~ and after 26 years of schedule and rigor and all - of course, it will take a while to rewind and take a breath however, I think you'll do well with the change. Write on!!! ~ Elyse

malcolm, I would find that odd to do, too....
write at the office I worked in for 26 years (yes, 26 for me, too)...maybe if I did it enough, I'd get used to it....ah but my own desk and accress to hot chocolate here at home, at any time, is hard to resist..

...continued good luck with that novel!...:)

Well Malcolm although retired I cannot miss doing some kind of manual work every day, it just seems the waste of an opportunity not to, It is silly I know but it used to be a twelve hour day and these things die hard.

You know, Malcolm, that work ethic might be your best tool...
Working the 9-5, really bearing down even when you're not in the mood for it after 26 years in Corp World is a hard habit to break. You've got the habit, the mind-body training... What if you decide writing is THE job? What if you keep the keyboard humming whether or not you are on a writing high? (Maybe 9-noon instead of 9-5 -- to allow afternoons for money getting.)

It's such a joy to catch up on your posts, Malcolm. Sorry to hear about the loss of the boy, but happy that all is well in your family. You all are so warm and caring, and reading in here feels like stepping into a neighbour's house to say 'Howdy!'. Once again, I have to say that the best thing you ever did was quit the company and start your own business - it shows in your writing how much more you enjoy your life. Kudos!
