It's about holding each other's hand as you jump from petal to petal so that when the thorns appear because some of the petals have gone you can help each other through the thorns and back on to the petals again...

One can turn from one to the other. It is wise to strip the thorns, and feed the flower so no other bed has such a rose. Very clever poem.

I guess it would depend on whether the marriage was made --- oh I think it is or can be like both - I've seen a lot of marriages in my young lifetime (okay so Im midlife I will admit) --- I've seen shades of both of these descriptive prose verses here. Good question Straight~
