This is a woderful portait of a moment in time within the theme of the passing of things. It's interesting your character says nothing, so he doesn't seem to be a drunk wallowing in the past. That's what makes it more of a painting than a story--and each line a brushstroke.

Indeed it can be lonely out there.

I could see a lot of me in this piece, sometimes our past is our shipwreck if we let it be and sometimes no one knows your name but the hand of Provenance that brings you home again. Thank you for your many visits, sometimes they are all it takes to keep an old man blogging. I hope you have a wonderful new year and I will be looking forward to reading more of your touching and thought provoking words.

Very good Simone a shame so many characters end up this way. I wish I could down a few pints sometimes.

So many characters pass on without any one caring, history lost forever,

one of G-ds children unloved unwanted gone...yet once upon a time he was a blue eyed heart breaker a man of vigour following his adventures.

You captured all this here for me darling and I love it.
