My parents moved from Croydon where I grew up, to Norfolk, but I have to confess I haven't missed Croydon from that day to this!

I think there's always one place where we lived...

I suppose growing up in a small town has its priviledges..I can understand how you miss the atmosphere there. Hope your team wins too.

I understood what you were saying about your folks moving on; it takes away the roots of a yesteryear that we're never quite ready to say good-bye to! I have had that feeling about the small town I grew up in, too! It's still home forever for me though! sam

Sometimes I think of going back and renting a place in the
little foothills village where I spent my teen years. It was far from enjoyable at the time, and my only wish was to escape, but I keep thinking it would be good ot overlay that with a positive memory -- spend a few months there doing research on a couple stories.

Yes I like to ride through the old villages Malcolm although it is with a feeling of sadness one expects an old acquaintance to be standing ready to give a wave or at least pushing a bicycle with a few cows following.

old neighbourhoods all leave their lasting impressions on us...
my Mom and I moved about four times after my Dad passed away, and each house had both good and bad memories...one house had an enormous walk-in area in one of the closets that was big enough for a desk, and became my homework/writing room..

.:)..

The day I left my parents farm for the last time as it had been sold,
I looked back and something inside of me broke......stayed that way until I walked inside this house and whispered to myself....after 40 years I am home.

I have similar, very pleasant memories about a neighborhood
from my childhood. Never fails to give me a mental lift when I drive through the area....Hello, Iowa Street..:) And like you, I wish my parents wouldn't have moved us.
Enjoy the game!
