Re: just fnally received the spanish sonnet :) I love it
I am glad you liked the sonnet and the mubarak poem, but regarding the events in Egypt:
The Muslim Brotherhood is not behind this uprising, anymore than they were behind the assassination of Sadat. Mubarak has been playing that bogeyman for nearly thirty years and US stupidity in falling for it has been disastrous for the US. The credibility of our country is practically nil in the region as a consequence of that and our support, past and present, of every two-bit tyrant who claims to protect our "interests" from various bogeymen. And that includes the Saudi royal family. Our lack of credibility then taints Israel, so supporting Mubarak has been bad for both the US and Israel.
What we are witnessing are popular uprisings against various tyrannical regimes, because their people have had enough. Our government can't do anything to help, in Iran or in Egypt, because we have a well-established reputation as a supporter of tyrants when our so-called "interests" of debt and the automobile industry are at risk. Where the MB comes in is that they can support these uprisings and have the luxury of picking and choosing the ones they will support and gain propaganda points from.
The real analogy, foreign policy-wise, is the US during the Russian Revolution. US credibility was nil there, too, since we backed the Czar as an ally during Mister Morgan's War (aka WWI) and then the mainly autocratic White Movement. Our government's continuing our support of those who were "good to us" and helping them "restore order" virtually assured that the Bolsheviks would take over. Our best policy vis a vis Egypt is to step away before we ensconce the MB as the anti-imperialist champion.

just fnally received the spanish sonnet :) I love it
as for your mubarak poem, it is very well said, and very fun to read, BUT
Beware the Muslim Brotherhood that is behind the uprising. (My prediction, and we will speak in a few when it is over.) The muslim brotherhood, also known as Hamas will take control and Egypt shall become like Iran. Last I saw on AOL is that Mubarak is headed towards Germany, same as Shah of Iran who headed towards Swiss terriroty, and was then unable to return home. Mubarak will not be able to return home ,a nd may end up right here with us.
Mubarak has been good to Israel and good to the united States, I dont understand why we dont help him restore order, oh well.

The Fall of Mubarak
Great imagery here! It is a wonderful day for democracy in Egypt. But one wonders will a more vicious tyrant take Mubarak's place?

Re: C.P.
Let's hope there's not another Napoleon or Lenin or Urban. My sense is that there is in Egypt too much popular insistence on democracy to allow military, ideological or religious dictatorships.

Great work! and I have to say you brought to me the images of Sadat death... Poor guy, he rode his fame for just an instant and was shot down while watching his glory pass by him... I never liked Mubarak..... You said it like it was and like it must be for him with blood on his hands ... Bravo!
